Welcome to 2017! And with a new year comes, you guessed it, a spew of new years resolutions while scrolling through your news feed. This is fine and all, but let’s admit it, by February those resolutions are long forgotten and life just goes on as it was. The older I get, the more I begin to realise that change IS good, but sometimes we have to take baby steps. This is why instead of setting resolutions (a hope), I set goals (a plan).
First, think of where you want to be by the end of the year, both personal and, for me, business. Make a plan of how you can achieve that by setting little goals for yourself throughout the year. For example, one of my personal goals for 2017 is to read one book a month. Now, how can I accomplish this? Looking back at 2016, the most I read is my Facebook feed…sad right? So, this year, I have decided to put down my phone and limit the time I spend on social media in order to do this. Sometimes you have to sacrifice a little to get to the things you really want. Another thing I find that helps, is writing them down and putting them in a place you would see it often, like let’s say a desk. That way, whenever you are on your computer -which for me is a lot- your constantly being reminded of the things you plan to accomplish this year.
Yes it’s scary, and yes, you might fail, but guess what…you won’t wake up at the end of the year wishing you would have done that thing. Instead you can say, I tried.
