When Bebe and Jared first met, they were not the best of friends – to be honest, they didn’t like each other at all. Her and I were roommates in a tiny basement suite during our second year at TRU, so I know first hand how much they disliked one another. It all started when she was invited to a Rock Trivia night by a friend and when she arrived, the only seat available was next to Jared, so there she sat. Being the talkative person she is, I know she would’ve tried to start a conversation, cracking jokes to make him presumably laugh. They ended up arguing about what makes up a red head and who classifies (I’m sure it started as a lighthearted conversation, then slowly turned sour). Drinks were spilled, names were called, but at the end of the night, he payed her tab before they left.
They lost touch after Bebe moved down to Vancouver, but years later she heard wind that his hip broke and that he would be staying at Vancouver General Hospital. She showed up the day of his surgery and chatted with a stranger for 20 minutes as they both waited for someone to come out of surgery – turns out they were waiting for the same person and the stranger ended up being Jared’s dad! She stayed and visited as he recovered, with his dad, as they chatted and watched a Canucks game. A few months later, by complete fluke, they ran into each other while she was visiting her sister in Kamloops. And this is when Bebe says Jared began his adventure to court her.
This went on playfully for a while and then when he was finally walking without crutches, he asked her why she never gave him a chance to date her. Her response was a totally Bebe thing to say, she told him, Because you aren’t ready to date me because you’d want to marry me! I’m not the girl you want to date, I’m the kind of girl you want to marry. They went on their first date a month and a half later and they moved in together four months after that. Jared popped the question last year and I couldn’t be happier for the two of them.
We had their engagement session this past weekend and it was my first sunrise shoot. I was so nervous the night before that I would sleep through my alarm and miss everything, but it all worked out just perfectly. And I must say, I think sunrise sessions are a new favourite of mine. It’s so peaceful and not to mention the light is so beautiful in the morning 🙂 We met at a little park at the top of a hill and they ended the session with a playful game of basketball as the birds chirped their morning song.
Bebe and Jared I am so incredibly happy/honoured/excited to shoot your wedding next October in Nakusp. She asked me almost immediately after Jared proposed, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I hope the both of you love this sneak peek of your engagement photos…
My favourite thing on engagement sessions? When adorable spur of the moment things happen. I had just asked Jared to kiss Bebe on the cheek – he then preceded to take of his hat, put it on her head and then kiss her on the cheek. This is probably my favourite photo from their session 🙂
Bebe, you are seriously stunning. Inside and out. Jared is one lucky guy.
Jared knows just how to make her laugh.
Time for a playful game of basketball as the sun rises 🙂
That morning light tho…I die!
I’ll end it here, just two people completely in love <3
Happy Tuesday!
