January 1, 2016 was the day Omar and I nervously met for the first time after talking online for months. Since then, we have made it our mission to start each year together, just like it all started. This year was a bit different though. 2018 marked the first year we didn’t have to travel 4+ hours to see one another…#YAY living together! So, on New Years Day Omar, being the sweet-souled person he is, decided to recreate our first date. And before you get too excited, no he didn’t propose. We also had a false alarm on Christmas day, but that’s another story for another day 😉
He made sure we did everything, including Starbucks and a trip up to Cypress Mountain! We managed to luck out with some beautifully sunny weather, which made our little stroll around town that much more enjoyable.
We started with a stroll around Horseshoe Bay and that morning light by the ocean was so perfect.
Then we went to Olive and Anchor where we sat just a few tables down from where we did on our first date. FYI: They’re butternut squash soup is simply divine!
Pretending he doesn’t want his photo taken 😉
Then it was off to Cypress Mountain. Funny back story: before I left to see Omar on our first date, I promised my sisters that I wouldn’t get in his car since we weren’t one hundred percent convinced he wasn’t a serial killer…needless to say I broke that promise pretty darn quick.
Not really sure what I am doing here…my face does its own thing when it’s cold 😉
Sometimes I can’t believe how incredibly lucky I am to be with someone as thoughtful and genuine as you. There is no other person I want to start my year off but with you. And who knows…maybe next time there will be a ring 😉
