We met at a quiet beach in Tsawwassen and chased the yummiest sunset light. If I am being completely honest, I felt extremely self conscious walking into this shoot. If you follow me on Instagram you will know I recently embarked on my weight loss journey and at this point I had lost about 40 pounds. When I went to try on outfits the night before, I suddenly realized nothing fit. Ensue panic attack. Now, normally I would NEVER wear a shirt that shows my arms for photos, but it was all I had so I just went for it. And you know what? I’m happy I did.
I made a goal for 2021 to step out of my comfort zone and do more things that scare me, and although wearing a cropped halter top may not sound that scary to most people, to me it was. But I have noticed that the more I stand up to the things that scare me, it’s never as bad and my brain tells me it will be. I’m in the middle of an online masterclass, and Julie Paisley is talking about how we define success and she just said:
“I’m successful when I don’t let anything hold me back and when I realize I control my destiny”
This resonated with where I am in my journey both professionally and personally. It can be applied to any aspect of your life or any goals you are trying to accomplish. I wasn’t expecting this to turn into such a personal post, but there you have it! Take a scroll though to see some of my new headshots…
